Principal's Message

Dear Edison Community,
We hope that you are having an enjoyable summer with family and friends. If you are new to Edison this year, welcome! And if you have had students already at Edison, we are excited to welcome you back to Edison for the upcoming school year, with the first day of the upcoming school year on Tuesday, August 11th. Personally, I am looking forward to another great year with your students and especially being able to see students and families back on campus! We hope to provide you with information to make the start of school as smooth as possible for the 2026-27 school year:
ParentSquare: Parent Square is the school and district’s communication tool, and is designed to keep parents informed and facilitate participation at school. It provides a safe way for the school staff and parents to send and receive school and class information, share pictures and files, see calendar items, and more…in one centralized place. Here is a Parent Overview for those wanting more information on how best to utilize this program. For the upcoming 2026-27 school year all district, school, grade level and classroom information will again be sent via ParentSquare, which you can customize to receive notifications on your computer, phone or tablet, via email and/or text, plus you can download the free App.
Family/Student Handbook: The Edison Family/Student Handbook contains a variety of informational items for families to review before and during the school year. This handbook can be found as well on the Edison website.
Wednesday Dismissal Time: AUSD continues to have Wednesday Collaboration Time for staff, which means an early dismissal time on Wednesdays each week. Students in Grades Kindergarten through 5th grade will be dismissed at 12:10 each Wednesday. Please see the School Hours and Bell Schedule for school hours for the year, as well as the Important Dates link below for a chronological listing of these dates.
Upcoming Dates: The full listing of Important Dates for the school year can always be found on the Edison website home page and is linked here. Here are some of the upcoming important dates relating to the start of school in August:
- Monday, August 3 Edison School Office open
- Friday, August 7 (4:00 pm) Classroom placement available in AERIES
- Tuesday, August 11 First Day of School
- August 11 - 14 Early dismissal for Grades 1-5 @ 12:10pm
- August 11 – 31 Early dismissal for Kindergarten @ 12:10pm
- August 26 Back to School Night, 5:30 - 7:15 pm
- Monday, September 7 Labor Day Holiday, NO SCHOOL
The Edison PTA will continue to post events on Konstella and the www.edisonpta.org website, including a link to the PTA membership page. Additionally, thanks to the generosity of our Edison parents and community, the PTA is able to support our students with purchasing back to school supplies....please see more communication about this next week! Also, please see the upcoming PTA Welcome Letter for information from our Edison PTA, and please see below for some upcoming PTA sponsored summer and start of school events:
- Saturday, August 1 - Kindergarten playdate, 10:30 - 12:00 pm, Edison playground
- Saturday, August 8 - All grades student playdates, 1:00 - 3:00 pm, Edison playground
- Monday, August 10 - Kindergarten teacher Meet & Greet, 2:00 pm, Edison playground
- Tuesday, August 11 - First day coffee, 8:20 - 9:00 am, Edison Office Courtyard
The school office will be open starting the week of August 3rd to help with any questions that may arise. You can reach the Edison office at 510-748-4002. We hope that you enjoy your summer, and we will see you at school on Tuesday, August 11th!
